Giving Back 2010 - Week 1

A weekly compilation of holiday season charities supported by our very own fans ... Because Economoms know that giving back is just as rewarding as saving money!

Decor Galore!

Who: The Junior League of Baltimore

What: A FREE all day shopping event featuring “gifts for you and the home," including children's clothing and toys, jewelry and other accessories, house wares, gifts, even items for your pets marked down at least 50% off original prices.  Featured children's items include: Trumpette socks originally $25 marked down to $10, half price Melissa and Doug puzzles, Serena & Lily pillows originally $60 for $30, and a ton of Lilly Pulitzer.

Where: 1830 York Road in Timonium (Old Scan Location)

When: Saturday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why: All proceeds from Decor Galore will help the Junior League of Baltimore continue their service in the Baltimore community (99 years so far!).  Current projects focus on increasing parental engagement in the Baltimore City Public School System, offering the gift of song to the elderly and disabled, and organizing special events to promote health for children and families.

Canned Goods for Discounts!

Who: Cutie Patooties and The Howard County Food Bank

What: Visit Cutie Patooties consignment shop and donate one canned good to get 15% off your clothing purchase! Donate two canned goods to get 20% off your clothing purchase!

Where: The corner of St. John's Lane and Frederick Road across from Rita's at 9090 Frederick Road in Ellicott City, Maryland.

When: Now through November 23, 2010

Why: All canned good will be donated to The Howard County Food Bank, which provides emergency food grants to families to ensure they have adequate and nutritious food. Eligibility is based on income.
