Giving Back - Week 3

Karen and Her Son
A weekly post of holiday season charities supported by our very own fans ... Because Economoms knows that giving back is just as rewarding as saving money!

We need your submissions! If you're supporting a charity this year (participating in a food drive, volunteering your time, etc), please let us know! We'll tell our 640+ fans about it in the spirit of the holidays to increase participation. See below for details.

Warm Up Body and Soul

Who: Baltimore mom and Economoms fan Karen Bon-Marcellino's charity, Karen's Coat Closet

What: Karen's Coat Closet accepts gently worn coats for men, women, and children. Karen washes and mends the jackets, then delivers them to local Baltimore shelters.

Where: Please leave coats in Karen's donation box at 36 Othoridge Road, Lutherville, MD 21093, or schedule a pick-up by calling the number below.

When: No end date! Karen says she hopes to be collecting coats forever! She stresses this is an ongoing community project that accepts donations year-round. However, coats are obviously in more demand during this time of year, the cold winter months.

Why: Karen says, "So many people don't have coats to wear during the cold weather and so many of us have so many coats that we do not wear. My goal for Karen's Coat Closet is to be the first name you think of when you are cleaning out your coat closests. One day, I would like the shelters in the area to know they can call Karen's Coat Closet and say, 'We need some coats.' I want to be able to say 'How many?' I am so excited to be able to provide a simple comfort that so many of us take for granted."
