Weekend Outlook - Feb 4-6, 2011

Economoms' recommendations for the best budget-conscious family activities in the Maryland region for the weekend of February 4-6:

Great Scale Model Train Show: All aboard! Train-obsessed tikes rejoice! Visit thousands of feet of model trains all weekend long at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adult admission is $9 and children under 15 are FREE. Or purchase a family pass for both days for just $18!

FREE Admission and Parking to the National Air and Space Museum: Road trip it to D.C. on Saturday for a special Family Day exhibition on African American Pioneers in Aviation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you're unable to attend this weekend, mark your calendar for next Saturday when museum admission and parking is free once again.

Half Price Admission to the Zoo: Economoms announced earlier this year that the Baltimore Zoo would be open this winter for the first time in five years -- at half price admission to boot! -- every weekend, Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday's forecast is currently sunny and in the mid-40s, a perfect opportunity to get outdoors before the snow returns again next week. According to the zoo website, the otters are back on exhibit starting this weekend! The polar bears and zebras also love Maryland winters.
