Here are Economoms' picks for the best budget-conscious family activities in the Baltimore area, March 30 through April 1, 2012. Happy April Fools!

All Weekend
  • 12 Easter Events - Including Eco-Easter Playdate at aMuse Toys on Friday evening, Milburn Orchards Egg Hunt all weekend, Spring Hunt at Robert E. Lee Park, and lots more!
Saturday
  • 10th Annual Fairy Tale Festival - Enoch Pratt Free Library, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Crafts, magic, and lots of fairy tale fun for the whole family. Dress up like a prince or princess and get your photo taken in a royal throne. FREE!
  • Opening Weekend at Clark's Elioak Farm - 10th anniversary. Saturday and Sunday. Petting zoo, pony rides, children's book signing. $5 per person, plus additional charges based on attractions.
  • Drop-In Art Activity at the Walters - Every Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. A different theme each month. March's theme is Animales! FREE!
  • Happy Birthday, Mr. Punch - Towson Library, 10:30 a.m. featuring a family program consisting of clever comedy magic, an organ grinder's music box and a laugh-out-loud puppet show. FREE!
  • The Nicolo Whimsey Show - Perry Hall Library, 11 a.m. featuring Nicolo the Jester combining pantomime, circus skills, comedy, music and more in this arts extravaganza. FREE! 
  • Storytime with Miss Bonnie - Greetings and Readings in Hunt Valley, 11 a.m. each Saturday. Also Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
  • Rapunzel - Puppet Co. Playhouse in Glen Echo, 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. showtimes on Saturday and Sunday. $10 per ticket.
  • Clever Rachel Play by the Pumpkin Theatre - St. Timothy's. Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. $15 per person.
Sunday
  • Baltimore Farmer's Market - Opening day of the 2012 season! Every Sunday underneath the Jones Falls Expressway at Holliday & Saratoga streets, 7 a.m.-noon.

  • Whose Baby? - Irvine Nature Center, 1 p.m. $10 for non-members, FREE for members. Many animal babies are popping up everywhere, but who is who?
  • Clever Rachel Play by the Pumpkin Theatre - St. Timothy's. Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. $15 per person.
  • Family Sunday at the BMA - Every Sunday, 2-5 p.m. A different theme each month. Aprils's theme is Spring in the American Wing. FREE!
