Weekend Outlook

Celebrate PumpkinFest at Irvine this Saturday and Sunday!
Economoms' recommendations for the best budget-conscious family activities in the Maryland region for the weekend of October 15-17:

$2 Family Fun Night at Port Discovery: Can you believe another month has passed and it's already time for another $2 Family Fun Night!? This is undoubtedly the best way for your kids to explore Port Discovery without feeling like a hole burned straight through your wallet. Takes place Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. ... the perfect way to kick off your weekend!

Irvine Nature Center's 33rd Annual Pumpkin Fest: The celebration of fall continues! What sets this one apart? It takes place at Irvine Nature Center in beautiful Caves Valley in Owings Mills. Irvine is one of Maryland's leading Environmental Education Centers for Baltimore families, so the Pumpkin Fest highlights not only fall play-time activities, but learning experiences, as well. Scarecrow making, puppet shows, pony rides, hay rides, arts and more are included in the $10 admission fee . Children can also join Irvine’s naturalists for storytime, meet the animals presentations, and nature walks. Pumpkins are in ample supply, so that visitors can take home a bit of the season when they leave!! Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m.

Harbor Harvest Fall Children’s Festival: If you're looking for something closer to the city, this 3rd annual celebration will take place right on the Inner Harbor, next to the Science Center, all day Sunday. Sponored by the Downtown Baltimore Family Alliance, it will feature a petting zoo, a pumpkin patch, a straw maze, hayrides, a pie eating contest, crafts with The Walter's Art Museum and Port Discovery, live music, and more!

Free Childrens' Books from Ukazoo: Don't let your kids miss out on an opportunity to pick out and take home a free book this Saturday! This deal is only available to Economoms and is being offered in conjunction with a reading and booksigning at 1 p.m. of Goliath, a childrens storybook that highlights Baltimore history. COUPON REQUIRED! Click on the link to print it!

Free Fall Baltimore: Don't forget! Tons of FREE arts and culture events are scheduled in Baltimore throughout October. Check out our children's faves and adult faves. How about introducing your little one to pottery at a free hands-on workshop sponsored by Baltimore Clayworks this Saturday? Or how about visiting the Black Cherry Puppet Theatre on Sunday? Not only will you and your kids get to see a live show, but you'll also get to take home your own handmade puppets!
